Ashlee Matthews was elected to represent the working-class families of House District 37 in the year 2020, officially commencing her legislative service in 2021. She is an active member of several significant committees and subcommittees, including the Business and Labor Interim Committee, Business, Economic Development, and Labor Appropriations Subcommittee, House Business and Labor Committee, House Ethics Committee, House Rules Committee, House Transportation Committee, Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Coordination Committee, and the Transportation Interim Committee.

Representative Matthew’s  primary legislative focus revolves around addressing issues crucial to working families, with a particular emphasis on improving child care accessibility and affordability, as well as providing support to working parents. During the 2023 session, she achieved notable success by passing legislation that significantly expanded maternal healthcare services, enhanced childcare accessibility, and promoted employment opportunities for individuals with criminal backgrounds.

Beyond her responsibilities within the Legislature, Representative Matthews dedicates her time to her family, comprising her two young sons and her devoted husband.
