Grant Miller is an attorney at the Salt Lake Legal Defender Association (SLLDA), where he has dedicated his legal career to protecting and vindicating the rights of individuals accused of various crimes. With a steadfast commitment to justice, Mr. Miller has built a reputation for his expertise in criminal defense and his dedication to serving the community.

Representative Miller earned his law degree from the SJ Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah, where he served as President of the Student Bar Association. Recognized for his dedication to volunteer service, he was awarded the Pro Bono Initiative’s Certificate of Service for 2016-2017. He graduated in 2017, delivering the student address at the commencement ceremony, and was admitted to the Utah State Bar and the Federal Bar later that year.

Grant began his legal career in private practice in Park City, specializing in criminal defense with a focus on expungements and conviction reductions. After his time in private practice, Mr. Miller joined SLLDA, initially serving in the misdemeanor division before advancing to the felony division. Throughout his tenure, he has taken numerous cases to trial in both District and Justice Courts, securing jury acquittals in a wide range of cases, including assault, DUI, and felony weapon possession.

In addition to his legal practice, Representative Miller is an active leader in the legal community. He is the incoming president of the Young Lawyers Division of the Utah State Bar and represents Utah at the American Bar Association YLD House of Delegates. He is a former director of the Wills for Heroes program in Utah and a volunteer expert at Salt Lake County’s Expungement Day. He also serves as a mainstay volunteer attorney at the Pro Bono Initiative’s expungement clinic and is a board member of the SJ Quinney College of Law Young Alumni Association. In 2020, he ran as a candidate for Salt Lake City Council.

Before pursuing a career in law, Representative Miller was a professional trombonist and a touring and studio musician. He began by playing with local ska bands and later joined the indie-folk group L’anarchiste, which garnered mainstream critical acclaim from NPR’s Weekend Edition, The Wall Street Journal, and Paste Magazine. The band was named City Weekly’s “Band of the Year” in 2013.
