Utah House Democratic Leader on the Second Anniversary of the Dobbs Decision

SALT LAKE CITY—Utah House Democratic Leader, Representative Angela Romero, issued a statement marking the second anniversary of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision by the Supreme Court of the United States:

“As we observe the second anniversary of the Dobbs decision, we are still awaiting our state’s Supreme Court’s ruling on an abortion trigger law with great concern. Deciding to have an abortion is a deeply personal and difficult decision. I firmly believe in respecting the choices of pregnant individuals. Healthcare decisions should be a matter between patients and their healthcare providers.

Legislators should not impose restrictions on healthcare options. Every Utahn deserves the freedom to make informed healthcare choices aligned with their beliefs and health needs and free from external pressures. In our diverse community, no one should feel restricted or hesitant in making decisions in their best interest. I will continue to oppose anti-abortion laws, advocate for legislation that ensures equal access to healthcare for everyone, challenge lawmakers who seek to limit choices, and amplify voices of organizations that champion reproductive care.”
